Best Kiteboarding offers LIFETIME warranty on gear!!

BEST KITEBOARDING TO OFFER LIFETIME WARRANTY ON KITES

Best Kiteboarding has announced the industry’s first, free, fair and reasonable lifetime warranty. The iconic kitesurfing company wants to better the usual 90 days warranty cover and has decided to prove their faith in their own products.

"We give a lifetime guarantee that everything we make will be free from material and manufacture defects for as long as it is owned by the original purchaser", says the kiteboarding company.
Best believes that if you take care of your gear you deserve to be taken care of as well. That’s why they accept warranty submissions from careful customers regardless of how old their equipment is.
Best Kiteboarding has approved 95% of all warranties requests for 2008 kites submitted during the 2011 season. If your kite is showing heavy signs of repeated crash damage and fails due to accumulated misuse, then that’s probably not a warranty.
"If you shred the bottom of your board on a reef, break fins on the beach or snap a surf board messing up big-air, there’s nothing we can do for you. If you are lucky enough to ride for hours, nearly every day and you wear your kite out after a full season, then that’s fair wear and tear, we are jealous, but it’s still not a warranty", underlines Best.
Also, if you lose your kite due to carelessness, wipe out while surfing and the kite canopy rips while going through the spin cycle, kite or board color changes after extended exposure in the sun or repair your kite and then it gives way again in the same spot you already repaired, then that won't be covered by warranty.
The warranty only applies to products bought directly from us or from an authorized Best dealer. Secondhand purchases, or eBay purchases are not covered under warranty, even if the products were listed as “new” or appear to be sold via a shop through eBay.

Surf Camp Yoga Slideshow just posted.
This was from our Athletes for Cancer surf camp. Participants came to Maui for a week long ocean camp and got to enjoy surf, standup, outrigger canoes, the beach, and whale watching. In between we got to do some yoga and other fun things. This slideshow is just a random collection from one day's session. The surf camp was awesome for all participants and instructors. Thanks to Tonia Farman the organizer and the sponsors; Athletes for Cancer, Standup for Cancer, and the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

IKO offers insurance for riders and Instructors.

Now Available, IKO Member, Rider, and Instructor insurance! Not available anywhere else!!!

The International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) has announced a new and unique kiteboard insurance program available to its members located in the United States. The sports insurance offers unmatched competitive rates and the most comprehensive general liability, medical and dental coverage of up to $1,000,000 for each kiteboarding incident.
Moreover, IKO has added a worldwide coverage endorsement, making this the leading kiteboard service available for US-based kiteboarders, instructors and schools.
"The top-notch standards maintained by IKO and its members are what make it possible to negotiate the best kiteboard insurance rates available in the United States," explained Frederic Bene, president and co-Founder of IKO.
"Because of our experience and commitment to safety, we have accurately assessed the risk, and determined what the best kiteboard insurance should cover for kiteboarding, snow and power kiting."
Most beaches in United States require kiteboard instructors to obtain proper permitting, and comprehensive insurance coverage. However, the benefits of insurance go beyond merely meeting a requirement, but serve to mitigate risk. "An instructor could have only one accident in an entire career of teaching, and that one accident could cause him or her to lose everything," says David Dorn, IKO’s training director.
"For kiteboard riders, lacerations are the most common. I have seen medical costs exceed $100 per stitch and broken bones between $5,000-$25,000.”
IKO's insurance program covers injuries or death of participants, spectators, volunteers and from property damage, activities necessary to conduct practices as well as cost of investigation, defense and more. The medical benefit covers up to $25,000 and for accidental death and dismemberment, $5,000. Kiteboard insurance premiums cover a 52-week period.

Maui Tsunami at Kite Beach

TSUNAMI, KITE BEACH MAUI 3/11/11
The Hawaiian islands had a tsunami hit the state on Thursday, 3/11/11.  The tsunami was caused by a major 8.8 earthquake that hit Japan.  The state of Hawaii had a mandatory evacuation Thursday evening when we were issued a tsunami warning for the entire state. The tsunami hit at about 3:30am with a 6.5 foot wave coming in to Kahului harbor. The water surged all the way up to the Kahului post office (which is pretty far in). Luckily Kanaha Beach (kite beach) only suffered minor damage. Trees were uprooted, logs moved, some fences knocked down, but all in all we were very lucky.
Yesterday we went to the beach to check out the damage, there were about 25 people volunteering with the beach clean up. We all cleaned up the trash, moved rocks, moved the giant logs out of the shore line and removed all the dead trees. The tsunami also brought in new sand and now kite beach has a whole new look!!

Idaho, here we come!!!

Well, I must say, February has not been a great month for wind but that is the way it can be in winter. February statistically has the least amount of wind for all the months. However if we do get tradewinds in February it can be one of the windiest and gustiest months of the year as well.  This week we are heading to Fairfield Idaho to go snow kiting with a bunch of friends from Portland. It is going to be awesome. I checked the weather and it is going to snow tonight so we should have fresh powder when we arrive!! Our friends have been to Fairfield before so they have the place dialed in. Fairfield is also the home of the Snow Kite Soldier event.
