Busy Summer on Maui 2013!!

What an awesome summer we had, the kids are now back in school and with Labor day approaching we now have some time to "catch up" on things. We put together a few video clips over the summer of the Action, check out our surf, SUP, kite and windsurf programs!!

Summer was awesome with our standard conditions, summer surf and SUP swells on the south shore made for some awesome surfing and SUP sessions down south, La Perouse Bay, Sidewalks, and even our Kalama Beach Park had some epic days!
Kanaha was no disappointment either with the usual 25-30mph wind daily. Summer is awesome on Maui! You rarely need to check the wind, just show up on the beach, I rig my 6m Naish Park, Dave rigs his 8m and away we go!! We are offering more and more advanced courses and Dave's new GoPro3 is capturing all of the action on the water!

Suzie on the water, I love Kanaha Beach Park!!

Here is David boosting!!

Thomas from Germany, getting some on the water coaching and instruction of jumping and overall riding improvement techniques!!

Lorenzo's dad came out from the mainland, so he took a few kite lessons!!

Our awesome windsurf instructors help down the fort at upper Kanaha teaching lots of Keikis, beginners and the usual waterstart and advanced jibing lessons!
Windsurf and kite instruction Martin enjoying a session after teaching!

Robbie Naish came for a visit at our Maui Sports Unlimited Keiki Windsurf Camp!!

We offer the original Maui Sports Unlimited kids windsurfing camps for ages 5 years old and up!
Of course Surf Club Maui www.surfclubmaui.com has been nothing but FUN!!! With our kids surf camps increasing in size and so many people just stoked to surf, SUP and Kayak on the south shore!
It always so fun to see people catch their first wave!!
 Phoebe is a Natural!

How-to Self-Rescue

How-to Self-Rescue
Self rescue technique is a life saving skill that needs skill and practice to master successfully. There are many versions of the self rescue. The classic bar /line wrap needs to be done correctly for the kite to remain in the depowered position. if done incorrectly the kite can power up and put the rider in a precarious situation. Do not just guess at this technique, learn the right way to do it, and make sure that you know how to do it on your own equipment. Check out this How-To page from ActionSportsMaui's David Dorn

Australia Kite Tour

Aloha Everyone!
Here is a little info about our last Aussie Training tour, of course we had an awesome time! It Started in Sydney with time to see the family and friends, then flew up to sunny Brisbane for some ITC kiteboard instructor training courses with the Kitepower crew at Redcliffe, Queensland i lots of fun, and Suzie's fist time to the sunshine state.. then we all flew down to my other favorite city spot (besides Sydney) St. Kilda, Melbourne. Amazing people, awesome kite spots, great weather!!
In addition to doing all the instructor training, David was busy training a new Australian Examiner
Chris Sal, at his amazing kite school called Kite republic. We met a lot of really great people and enjoyed the relaxed Aussie lifestyle. We will be back for sure the very next chance we get.

All the Gear and No Idea?

Have you ever had trouble Knowing what size kite to ride? it is the eternal question for every kiteboarder. Kiteboarding is not like other sports where you always use the same equipment each time. Because in kiteboarding the playing field is always changing. Kiteboarding is a wind-powered sport and although we are using kites, the wind is what we are really riding, and so the wind itself should be our first and foremost consideration before kiteboarding.
